NGRRC Sound of Thunder RD6.
The race program was running slightly behind schedule by the time my main championship race came around. A few spots of rain had already started falling by the time the Sound of Thunder was called. Having a second bike was paying dividends. Whilst everyone else frantically rushed around changing wheels I warmed the old bike up and had a cuppa.

It made a nice change to not be woken by the rain. Instead the boy woke me at around 0600 jumping up and down on my head and pulling the curtains to one side in the caravan.
First practice was at nine o’clock so at around seven thirty I had some painkillers for breakfast and started getting the bike ready.

A fairly uneventful weekend as far as I was concerned.
After my crash at Cadwell less than two weeks prior to this meeting I was still physically hurting. My busted ribs and stiff right ankle meant that I was going to have to load up on painkillers and do what I could on the bike.

WatchA tiring two weeks prior to last weekend. Busted ribs and a sore ankle to deal with as well as trying to rebuild the bike. I was waiting on parts up until the Thursday before the weekend meeting so ended up working on the bike until 4am Friday morning. I then had to work all day prior to traveling to the circuit on Friday evening. I slept well in the caravan on Friday.

By the time the Open race came I was fairly nervous. I had never done an Open race before and it was a packed grid with me right in the middle on row 6.
