This is what club racing is all about. A parcel turned up today from a fellow competitor. A mug with an image of me and him going at it during the Castle Combe meeting. Andy Payne rides his Aprilia in the Sound of Thunder. We both started racing last season and had a few good scraps during the season.
Hopefully we will keep each other company again this season. See you on the grid Andy!

Homemade radiator guard. These may well save me a rad and mean I finish my races.
Minor tweaks now to the bikes. Less than a week to go until the first meeting.
I decided to fabricate a radiator guard each for the bikes. I spent £12.86 on two sheets of galvanised mesh. A pair of snips, eight cable ties and a little bit of measuring was all that was required.
“suitable for pet, garden and DIY applications”
they forgot to mention high performance racebikes.

I’ve decided to get some graphics made. I figured that I’m paying to race so why not use the advertising space. These are just photoshop mock-ups to send to the print shop. The wet bike will have the Union flags on so a smaller graphic will have to do.

The final bits, honest. Bought another Sato shift spindle holder for the new bike. A little bit of dremmel work to modify the plate on the quick shifter unit was required to make it fit without fouling the gear shift.

I had an OEM front fender from when this bike was my road bike so rather than buy another I re-fitted it. Matt orange doesn’t really fit with the colour scheme so a bit of amateur vinyl wrap breaks the orange up a little.
The final bits of pre-season prep to the bikes. They were both serviced yesterday.
I have removed the remaining expensive carbon fibre bling. My GB racing crash protection is fitted. The carbon fibre will go back on at the end of the season when the racing is done.

Trying to make the bikes as similar as possible will make my life easier at the race meetings.
I didn’t think I would be draining coolant and replacing it with water at this time of the year but I figured The Plum Pudding Races were too good an opportunity to miss.

A day of prep getting the new bike sorted for boxing day racing. All the original KTM powerparts fairings off apart from the belly pan. KTM crash protection off and my R&G kit on.
Transponder fitted and some hand cut numbers for one meeting only. #9 instead of my usual #17.

Oh yes. This thing sounds sweet. Can’t wait to get it up to full speed and hear it sing.
